DIY Dog Toys

When boredom strikes that can mean either the couch or their dog bed could get it. For active pups that enjoy rough play and chewing, this could be difficult to manage. Some dog toys can handle rough play but often the ones that they love the most are the ones that will fall apart over time. Here are some ideas for toys that you can make at home to keep your dog entertained without going to the store.

Muffin Tin Game

For this game, all you need is a muffin tin, their favorite treats, and some tennis balls. Put the treats in the muffin tin place the tennis balls over it and let them work at getting the treats out of the tin. This is a great game for crafty puppies who love to get into things. It is also time-consuming and will hold their attention for a while so you can focus on the things you need to do. It can also be amusing to watch them work to get the treats out and see what tactics they use.

Pull Apart Dog Toys

This toy requires some stands of fleece, also their favorite treats, and a Hol-ee Roller Dog Toy 5”. Stuff the ball with the strips of fleece then stuff treats into the ball. If your dog likes to tear things up and send toys to the graveyard then this is the perfect game for them. They can pull it apart and fling it around, getting all that pent-up energy out. Once completely demolished, it can be set up with a few more treats so they can go at it again. And the fleece strips can be washed and reused.

It is also a toy that will give your clever pooch some mental stimulation. So, if you have a dog that tends to bored this is a great game for them.

Frozen Sock Dog Toy

This one is perfect for the summer heat. Take an old sock, tie it into a knot then soak it in water and freeze it. Once it’s frozen then you will have a cool new chew toy that will entertain your dog for a while, this toy can help them cool off while also giving them something to tear up. This toy is best used for older dogs who have stronger teeth. Puppies aren’t recommended to chew on ice and should be given softer chew toys instead.

Sweet Potato Rope Toy

The prep on this chew toy will require a bit more than the others but it should last you for quite a while. For this toy you will take a sweet potato and cut it into disks then you will take a cookie cutter and cut holes into the disks. Bake the rings, then string them onto some rope and make lots of big knots to keep the pieces of potato in place.

These dog toys can help your dog stay entertained and will help direct their chewing attention to something better than your furniture. If you are worried about their bed then check out the chew-proof beds with Gorilla Dog Beds.
